Thickness reduction - alesco minimises the use of raw materials via thickness reduction

At alesco, we are focused on continually improving our films. Our product development team is constantly working on new compositions and formulae to make better films out of fewer raw materials. Reducing film thickness is our goal.

Example 1

Since 2006, for example, we have been able to reduce the film thickness of a product for a well-known customer from 60 my to just 39 my. This constitutes a 35 percent reduction in raw material usage which, when taken over the two-year period, sounds even more impressive:

  • 600 tonnes less raw material to be produced, extruded, transported and ultimately disposed of.
  • a freight reduction of around 60 truckloads
  • a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 2,600 tonnes

Example 2

A shrink film package containing 6 x 1.25 l PET-bottles is quite a standard in supermarkets. This means 7.5 kilograms which have to be carried home savely. Our answer to this issue: 24.66 grams of foil with reduced thickness. The proportion of 1:304 between the goods and our secure packaging is self-explanatory: Less raw material charge but full benefit. That’s what the environment likes…
