Exhaustible resources - Our planet’s exhaustible resources

If there is one substance which has constantly influenced our lives over the past 150 years, it would surely be crude oil. This substance powers our cars, is added to cosmetics and medical products, is used to build houses and not least as the basis for all types of plastics.

But if there is one substance which will strongly influence our lives in the future, this will also be oil. The crude oil which will, at some point, no longer be there. Because the reserves are becoming increasingly depleted each day, many experts even predict that oil sources may run dry in less than 50 years.

We must therefore rethink and look for alternatives, such as the use of electric vehicles, alternative sources of energy or plastics made from renewable raw materials. Because the resources on Earth are finite – and we should not wait until oil production begins to falter until we consider alternatives.
