Calculation - Using the CO2 footprint to calculate compensation

With the help of a CO2 footprint, a calculation formula is created for every company offering carbon neutral products. All work stages relevant to production are initially analysed to determine this footprint. In doing so, the amount of CO2 output resulting from the individual stages is calculated. All aspects ranging from the production of our granules (as a raw material for our plastic), the routes our employees take each day to get to work and delivery to our customers are included in the issues we take into account.

This footprint was determined by the consultancy company ClimatePartner (www.climatepartner.com) for alesco. We can therefore calculate the amount of greenhouse gases produced each day. The result will also give us the amount of emission reduction certificates required for neutralisation and the corresponding purchase price.
